Old Palace School Governors
The School Governing body is responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the head teacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school’s aims and policies.
Governors have three main roles:
- To provide strategic direction for the school
- To act as a critical friend to the head teacher
- To ensure accountability

Structure
To support its work, the Governing board has established a Resource Committee and a Curriculum & Standards Committee.
There is also a Pay Committee, which is a subgroup of the Resource Committee and a Head Teachers Performance Management Committee, which is made up to the Chair, Vice Chair and one other (non staff/ parent) governor.
Other Committees are convened on a needs basis. Please refer to the Terms of Reference for more information.
Each governor is also required to serve as a Link Governor.
