Safeguarding

Safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children is everyone’s responsibility.

The school has a legal duty of care for the health, safety, security and wellbeing of all pupils and staff. Old Palace is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and requires all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

If you notice anything that you feel is a cause for concern, relating to a child’s safety in our school, please ensure you discuss it immediately with a member of the safeguarding team, listed below:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Ms Millward, Deputy Headteacher
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Ms Kurup, SENDCO & Inclusion
  • Parent Support Workers: Shelly Rahman & Forida Rahman
  • School Business Manager: Michele Walsham
The school has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will run jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police. Operation Encompass directly connects the police with the school to ensure support for children when there has been (a police attended) incident of domestic abuse. Operation Encompass provides an efficient, confidential channel of communication between the police force and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at the school. This is to ensure that the school are able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
